A latch is a component used to fasten two items. It typically consists of a movable part and a fixed part, and the function of closing and opening is achieved by the combination and separation of the two. Its working principle is based on the lever principle. By pressing the lever down towards the base, a locking force is generated. When the lever is returned to the vertical position, the force is released, thereby realizing the opening and closing.

Latches are usually easy to operate. Some high-end latches also have functions such as anti-theft, waterproof, and dustproof. In different application fields, this component is called differently. For example, in the vehicle and door and window industries, it is often called a "latch," while in the machinery and box industries, it is often called a "hook and latch." The two are essentially different names for the same functional component.
